Weihenstephaner Pilsner

I am at Lamonts Restaurant alongside the river in Beautiful Perth, Western Australia.

They have a great selection of international beers, and I have selected Weihenstephaner Pilsner.

I had never heard of it, but it’s not because they are new. I was shocked to see the words “since 1040″ proudly displayed on the label.

To think that they have been brewing beer for nearly 1000 years!

The waiter poured the beer perfectly into a slender glass with a perfect head, mentioning to me that it went great with Asian dishes.

The beer itself is a straw-gold colour. The aroma is flowery and slightly sharp, with a creamy mouthfeel, and slightly bitter flavour. The finish is also slightly bitter and short.

There were nice rings left on my glass, a sign of a nicely crafted beer.

It is a perfect situation, great company, a stormy sunset along the water, and a great beer from the other side of the world, handled with pride.
